Me? I was in Lost Angeles, nine weeks into a 10-week circumnavigation of the world that was starting to wear me down.
So listening to an album on in-ear headphones in a dark room just down from Venice Beach probably wasn’t the best way of taking in Daft Punk’s latest, which history will show was as huge as the hype preceding it.
My opinion has softened over the years – I’d upgrade it to ‘pretty damn good’ for the most part, and certainly their second-best after Discovery – but sinking the boot into it (and Human After All) on the day it dropped was so much fun I have no regrets.
And rest assured – though the Comments have all vanished now, I copped an absolute flaming from the Daft Punk faithful at the time.
