When I first flew into Delhi to watch Australia lose a cricket match, it was the last place on Earth I’d have wanted to live.

Fast forward less than three years and, sure enough, I was living here. Which means I’ve been able to easily watch Australia lose all over the subcontinent – Kolkata, Mohali, Bangalore, Dharamsala, even across the ditch in Galle.

Along the way, I took my Indian girlfriend to her first ever cricket match, and after proposing to her at Eden Gardens she’s now my Indian wife. So amid all the Aussie losses (I’ve got a 0-7 record overall), there was one significant win.

It’s the longest read I’ve ever written for The Roar, and I’m still yet to share the epic tale of how I finally got tickets for that first Test in Delhi all those years ago…
